2013 BMW 135IS

It's a little easier to get confused by the different model monikers than the production 135i. All 135i models come with most of the sporty features you'd associate with BMW's traditionally labeled "M Sport" models, but in the case of the 135i, only models with the option code P337A carry the original

M Sport designation. are Gone, giving you styled 261 wheels and an anthracite headliner. The 135i can also be had with the Sport Package, which gives you all the goodies of the M Sport but with a lighter colored headliner and Style 264 wheels. What makes it even more confusing is that when you decode the VINs on the non-M Sport models, the M Sport term S704A - suspension - appears on all 135i models. A non-Sport 135i was available, which gave you different wheels and no sport seats, plus chrome trim - but those are typical of almost all convertibles.

Ready to get more confused? For its final model year, the M Sport package was dropped and replaced by the Model-135 codenamed P7MFA. The 135is has some changes from previous models. Visually, they are almost identical to last year's M Sport. Or, for that matter, they're basically identical to any other 135i. There are three ways to recognize 2013 visually. At the rear, an "s" is added to the wheels and polished exhaust tips. The new S2NFA M double-spoke style 313 wheels shared their design with the 335is, but were smaller and narrower. They were actually also available from the dealer as M Performance wheels, and some were made by Speedline. Dynamically, there was a small change. Still carrying the N55 single-turbo inline-6, the previous model year received a bump in power that was optional in 2012. A reworked ECU gave you 20 more horsepower and 17 lb.ft of torque – not a huge gain, but a gain. Even so the option was available as a power kit for any 135i from your dealer. Still, the 135is was the "best of the best" of the non-M E82s here, and with only around 500 sold they are quite desirable. It has a few miles and a checkered history but still looks good, so is this a rare car bargain?
